Specifically, the 2020 Ram 1500’s new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine grabbed critics’ attention. This new engine generates 480 lb-ft of torque and enables the Ram 1500 to tow up to 12,560 pounds. That’s a segment-best for torque and diesel towing.
“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top-Rated Truck for 2020,” explained Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief, Edmunds. “We still love its technology, interior built quality, ride comfort and capability, but the new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability. The Ram 1500 easily remains the most desirable pickup truck on the market.”
The new EcoDiesel engine does more than deliver raw power, however. It’s also highly efficient. When the Ram 1500’s 33-gallon gas tank is filled up, you can travel more than 1,000 miles in the pickup before needing to refuel.
The jump to 480 lb-ft of torque marks a 14 percent increase over the previous-generation EcoDiesel V6. It also marks an eight percent increase in horsepower to 260.
The 2020 Ram 1500 is a big deal, and you can experience it for yourself with a test drive at Rothrock Motors.
