Every January at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit, automotive journalists from across the country choose their favorite car and truck. In preparation for the show, the 2016 Nissan TITAN XD was named a finalist for the North American Truck of the Year award.
“To understand the full significance of the North American Truck of the Year award you have to look at the cumulative depth of knowledge of the jurors, who represent major magazines, television stations, radio stations, newspapers and websites,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, sales & marketing and operations, U.S.A., Nissan North America, Inc., in a statement. “To be named one of three finalists is a tribute to the dedicated Nissan planning, design, engineering, development and manufacturing teams across America that have worked so hard to bring it to market.”
The 2016 TITAN XD is an all-new design and essentially carves out a new segment for itself between the traditional heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. Driving the TITAN XD will be the available 310-horsepower Cummins 5.0-liter V8 Turbo Diesel that is capable of towing more than 12,000 pounds, when properly equipped.
The final announcement for both the North American Car and Truck of the Year will be made at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, held January 11th through the 24th.
