Grueling real-world testing has led the editors of TFLtruck.com to only one possible conclusion: the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is the best off-road truck of the year.
Entered in the publication’s annual competition, which evaluates pickups for their performance, technology, trailer towing, and off-road capabilities, the Frontier PRO-4X immediately made a strong impression thanks to its standard Bilstein® shock absorbers and aggressive all-terrain tires.
“The Frontier PRO-4X we tested has what it takes to tackle difficult trails,” said TFL’s Andrew Smirnov. “It has the locking rear differential, low-range transfer case, Bilstein shocks, and skid plates. It was a very good off-road pickup truck in itsprevious generation, and this new one is no different.”
The midsize 2022 Frontier’s standard best-in-class 310-horsepower V6 engine and 6,700-pound towing capacity embodies a “work hard, play hard” philosophy. Capable of doing big jobs during the work week, it’s also just as adept at tackling rough terrain and tough trails over the weekend. And according to TFLtruck.com, it managed better than the Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Toyota Tundra.
