Nissan Debuts Brand-New Logo
Nissan is always looking to the future and innovative vehicles like the electric Nissan LEAF have helped change the industry. Now, it is looking at a company-wide makeover with a fresh lineup, updated styling, and a brand-new logo.
Changing logos is not a new concept, as companies all around the world routinely freshen up their brands. The outgoing Nissan logo has been in use for the past two decades. Nissan has been working on its new design for the past three years.
The Nissan senior vice president of global design, Alfonso Albaisa, created a team in the advanced design department dedicated to creating a new logo that would be “thin, light, and flexible.” The icon also had to be clearly visible from a distance and make a strong impression.
“Inspiration was drawn from breakthroughs in science, technology, and connectivity. How these have brought fundamental changes to our customers,” said Albaisa. “As you can imagine, visions of digitalization started swirling in our heads.”
When you compare the outgoing logo to the new design, you can see how it evolved from being blocky and dense to an airy, almost digital design. The first model to wear the new badge will be the all-electric Nissan Aryia concept.
