Premium to the People: A Chrysler Campaign
We at Rothrock Chrysler enjoy watching automobile commercials almost as much as we like selling cars, especially the commercials featuring current events.
Fiat Chrysler is using the US presidential election as a background to feature new Chrysler sedans. This new ad campaign, “Premium to the People,” has two former “presidents” discussing their patriotism.
Actor Martin Sheen played the role of President Josiah Jed Bartlet in the West Wing for seven seasons and actor Bill Pullman was President Thomas J. Whitmore in the 1996 film Independence Day.
The ad features the two men discussing America while sitting in Chrysler sedans. Sheen is seated in a Chrysler 300 large sedan and Pullman is in a Chrysler 200 midsize sedan. They use the features of the vehicles to detail their separate stances.
Features are mentioned like Americans wanting all-wheel-drive and being wrapped up in the “Nappa leather” of the vehicle. The two actors also go back and forth about their fictional terms as president.
Fiat Chrysler chief marketing officer, Oliver Francois, sees the American election as a trending topic and the car commercial as a way to stay relevant. He said that casting was easy, and both actors truly embrace being for the people. He also said that Fiat Chrysler is “proudly associated with” Pullman returning to the screen this summer as Whitmore in Independence Day: Resurgence.
